Holbrook House Café and Tea Room is locally owned and
operated by mother-daughter team Carolyn (Wright) Duling and Aliesha (Duling) Hansen. Many are surprised to learn that this is not the original location of Holbrook House. Ten years prior to opening in 2003, the Holbrook House dream became a reality in their home in rural Findlay. Holbrook House at Hickory Grove Farm was a darling two-room gift shop and tea room—where both Aliesha and her younger sister, Jennifer, served tea and lunch to guests. Carolyn's younger son Steve helped her create many of the delicious lunches and desserts that are again being served at Holbrook House. Open for one successful holiday season, Carolyn pursued the idea of opening her tea room and shop on a larger scale in its current location. Faced with many challenges at that time, she still took steps to move forward. After the tragic death of her older son in an auto accident in 1994, plans for a new venture were put on hold.

In early 2003, Aliesha turned to her for advice with thoughts of opening a gift shop. Through many brainstorming sessions and with much encouragement from family and their husbands, Mike and Dale, they decided to bring Holbrook House back—this time as partners.

Several of our lunch entrees are named for family members; and the Holbrook House name is a tribute to Carolyn’s mother and Aliesha's grandmother, Oma (Holbrook) Wright who loved to create wonderful food and desserts for family and friends. We are very grateful to God for allowing us the opportunity to pursue our dream together, and share it with you.
